Who's "Washing" Now?

With this painting tip, you'll never need to wash another paint tray!  Sound good? Here’s how it's done.  Before pouring your paint directly into the tray,  line it first with a heavy-duty aluminum foil. Be sure to carefully mold the foil to the shape of the tray. This will prevent it from accidentally tearing as you move through it with your paint roller.  Now add your paint and you are ready to paint all day.  When you are finished, carefully remove the foil and you have your clean tray again!

This is especially helpful when  changing paint colors. Simple remove the old foil and replace it with a fresh sheet when applying a new color. Why spend time washing paint trays when you don’t have to?

Ever wonder what to do with your wet paint brushes and rollers when you don’t have the time to clean them right away?

Simply wrap them in plastic wrap until you have the time. The plastic wrap will keep the brushes and rollers from drying out, allowing you to wash them when your schedule permits.

This method works well for brushes and rollers while you're waiting for paint to dry between coats.

Rubber Band Rescue

Have you ever been working on a DIY project that required removing some screws and everything was sailing along just fine, that is... until you stripped one of the screws? Now your ten minute repair just became 30 minutes and your frustration level has gone through the roof. We've all been there, ugh, but with this tip, you can get back on track in no time while keeping your frustration level in check!

Sometimes when removing screws, we use the wrong size screwdriver or try to remove them too quickly without enough pressure applied. When this happens, we start stripping the slotted head of the screw, creating a very loose and sloppy fit.

THE MOMENT YOU THINK YOU HAVE BEGUN TO STRIP THE SCREW HEAD,
STOP TRYING TO REMOVE IT TO PREVENT FURTHER DAMAGE!

To solve this problem, put a wide rubber band between the head of the screw and the screwdriver. I recommend using a screwdriver that is one size larger to help achieve more contact. The rubber band should fill in the stripped area and provide enough grip to help turn the screw. This works best if you apply heavy pressure at a slower turning speed. This should do the trick if the head hasn’t been stripped too badly.  Problem solved with the help of a simple rubber band.
