The Secret to Fixing Carpet Dents....ICE!

1/31/2014

Picture
Have you ever wondered how to remove those annoying carpets dents that appear after you move your furniture?  Well, wonder no more.
  • Place an ice cube in each carpet dent. Larger dents will require multiple cubes.
  • Let the ice cube melt on the compressed carpet. Let the area sit for at least 12 hours. As the ice melts the carpet nap will begin to return to its fluffy state, eliminating the dent. If necessary, absorb the excess water with a clean towel.

For stubborn dents
  • If after applying the ice you find the carpet nap has not recovered completely, use a fork to gently lift the remaining carpet fibers.
  • Some dents are more difficult than others and may need the process repeated.
  • If some of the dents still remain, you can mist the spot with a water bottle and dry with a blow dryer while gently fluffing the area with a fork.

Warning
Avoid using this method on carpets that are not compatible with water cleaning.
Use caution if you have a wood floors beneath the carpeting.

Wow, That Really Worked!

Here are three great Do-It-Yourself tips from Glamumous Magazine
that can help even the most inexperienced handyman look like a PRO!

Tip number one is for picture frames.

  • When hanging a picture frame, put a dab of toothpaste on the frame where each nail will be located.
  • Place a level on the top of the picture frame to ensure that you line it up straight against the wall.
  • Then, simply press the frame against the wall to leave marks (which can later be wiped away) as guides for where to place the nails.

Tip number two is for dripping faucets.
  • As a temporary fix to stop the annoying sound of a dripping tap, tie a piece of string around the faucet making sure it is long enough to reach the sink's basin. Now when the water leaks, it will run down down the string eliminating the dripping sound.

  1. Tip three is simple, yet ingenious. Have you ever wondered what to do when you're drilling holes into the wall and you watch helplessly as the drilled-out material falls onto your furniture and floor? Here is is the solution.
  • Use a Post-It note when drilling to catch the dust.
  • The Post-it note is reusable and can be moved.                                                                                                                                Via Lifehacker
